Before I get on to my goals for the rest of the year, can we just talk about the fact that it was Spring like yesterday? And now I’m already counting down the days until Starbucks release their Pumpkin Spiced Latte. I actually did just google this, and the answer is SOON. Wahoo! Probs around the start of September….
Where has this year gone? We’ve had pretty much no Summer, apart from that ridiculous heatwave in June I guess. And hand on heart, I’ve had a few chats about Christmas already. Ugh.
I like Autumn. I look forward to jumpers and cardigans and cosy nights in. The one thing I don’t like though, is the dark nights. They just affect me. I feel lazy with no energy. They make me feel blue and crave just a little bit of brightness to my day.
So I’ve set myself some goals for Autumn and Winter, hoping that having something to work towards helps any SAD I might suffer:
Goal 1 -Put more effort into my homeware.
Now I’m not really talking about massive pieces of furniture, but just doing more to make my house feel nicer. My Dad is hopefully painting my spare bedroom in September, which means I can the start to shift out stuff from my other bedroom and have a good sort out. I want to be able to put stuff away with proper storage and just have more decorative pieces on show. Maybe even get a few houseplants…
Apart from having a home that looks and feels nicer, I guess I want it to be more photo-friendly. To take little snapshots of a picture frame or a cute corner or a bookshelf.
Goal 2 – Keep on working on my photography.
I’ve learnt so much since getting my Olympus Pen. I sometimes get a bit stressed out when trying to figure something out, but once people ask me about it, the knowledge just seems to flow out my mouth.
Editing is pretty much sorted now, but it would be great to know what is needed to make a better picture to start with.
Since getting my camera, it has made me see places differently. Even when on my lunch break around Swindon, I am looking at cute little walls that might photograph well. I’m very excited for my weekend away with Ralph, as there’ll be fantastic new things to take pictures of. And, of course, new things for Ralph to take pictures of me in front of *coughs*
Goal 4 – Lose Weight
I don’t know why, but my weight has ballooned in recent months. Ironically, I have given up drinking Coke for lunch in the same time span. Do you know how hard that was?!?! And it looks like it was all for nothing….
Especially with the colder months approaching, I’m going to make a conscious effort to eat more soup for lunch. I tend to go for sandwiches now and the bread just bloats me out.
Another thing I want to try to get into is swimming. I love swimming. It’s a fantastic exercise for the whole body and isn’t as hard impact as running.
I’m hoping that the combination of no Coke and swimming will finally make me shift the weight. Stay tuned for a “How I Lost Weight Blog Post”…..!!
Goal 5 – More “Me” Time
This is a crucial one for me, especially around Winter and cosy nights in.
I guess you have to have lived on your own to appreciate how important alone time is. To be able to just relax with your own thoughts. To unwind from a busy day and just take things at your own pace.
Friday nights are now my “me time” nights. So I’ll get to watch a film of my own choice, whilst eating something yummy and having the whole night to do whatever I fancy.
After some brief time on my own, I find myself eager to be around people more. All it takes is one night to almost reset yourself, and then I’m good to go.
So that’t is peeps.
