Hello all. It’s been a while since I’ve done a make-up post and seeing as I spend more money than I’d care to admit on all things beauty, I thought it was time to bring you up to date. If you would like to see my last make up post, click here.
Lately I’ve been going for a more sun-kissed look. Not mad bronzing, just a little sweep of warmth and a darker pink blusher. I find this makes me look so much healthier and, if you resemble a pale Dementor in your natural state, read on for my favourite products right now and how I apply them:
First off I start with my trusty Clinique Moisture Surge. I have mentioned this before and I AM STILL USING IT!! I haven’t wandered in terms of moisturiser. If your skin is dry and dehydrated, this is the stuff for you. Shop here
I then apply my Benefit Professional to cover up pores and to give my skin a smoother texture for make-upapplication. (If you’re going to use this stuff regularly, buy the value size direct from Benefit, you’ll save £££) Shop here
My foundation of choice at the moment is Bare Minerals Bare Pro (shop here) This is great for Autumn/Winter when you might want more coverage and the added bonus about this foundation is it says it’s helping your skin when you wear it. As someone who is super sensitive and prone to breakouts, I’ve noticed an improvement in my skin since wearing this.
Lastly, I have been applying Bare Minerals Complete Coverage Concealer (shop here) to under my eyes, around my nose and any areas I’m having a little redness.
Now this is where I start to look a bit more healthy! I apply Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer Lite (shop here) to the sides of my nose, temples and hairline to create more shape and definition to my otherwise moon face.
I then add a light dusting of Body Shop’s Shimmer Waves in Bronze (shop here) to my cheeks and do a really gentle sweep all over with a large face brush. This stuff is great as it’s got shimmer to it and, even though the colour is called Bronze, it gives just a subtle bronzing look without looking like an orange.
For blusher I have been loving Nars Super Orgasm (shop here) to apply a very light dusting to the apples of my cheeks. It is quite important not to apply too much of this as it is super pigmented, but a light application to just the apples of your cheeks creates a lush pinched-cheeks-make-up-look. Love it.
Since I had my hair dyed a little darker, I went up a shade in my Benefit Goofproof Brow Pencil (shop here) and am now using shade number 4. I felt the number 3 was a tad too light with the bronzing and darker hair, and my eyebrows are so prominent, I need to make sure they’re the right colour! This creates quite a “block” look, so I break it up with Glossier’s Boybrow in Brow (shop here) Yes, I jumped on the bandwagon this month amongst every other blogger ever. But this little product is great for showing off the individual hairs in your browns. Love it.
I’ve then been alternating between either Benefit’s Pose Balm (shop here) or Mac’s Fanfare (shop here) for my lips. The Posie Balm is great for nourishing my lips as well as adding colour, though as it’s a lipgloss, the colour does fade. Mac’s Fanfare is basically the same shade but a cremesheen effect and will stay put!
For an end application to hold everything in place I have been using Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Finish Powder in Nude (shop here) This gives a little shimmer to my face. I also use this for touch ups during the day.
I hope you find this useful, let me know if you use any of these make-up products and if you’ve found something similar that I might like.
